My current role at the University of Utah involves developing a standardized toolkit and framework for the assessment of vehicles' HMI. Such toolkit (object of a patent application) is used for the assessment of the HMI of a large number of vehicles - different OEM, makes and trim levels. Investigating the User Experience in vehicles with NHTSA level 2 autonomous features and developing new ways to make the user interaction more effective and pleasant for the user represent a major focus of my research. My role at Jaguar Land Rover in the HMI research team involved contributing my Human Factors and User Experience expertise in the development and design of innovative HMI. The main projects I was involved in included designing the HMI for voice commands and personal assistant systems, crash-prevention and warning systems - JLR Bike Sense. During my 2-year visit at the University of Utah at Salt Lake City I have collaborated with Dr. Dave Strayer and the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. My main contribution to the AAA framework for cognitive distraction involved designing the glance analysis procedure for the on-road study. As visitor reseacher I have conducted many studies later included in my doctoral dissertation entitled: "Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: Multimodal, redundant warnings enhance road safety".
