Test and analysis of crashworthiness in CFRP. Implementation of numerical models for the prediction of energy absorption during dynamic crushing.The goal of my research is to support the automotive and aviation industries in the adoption of lightweight CFRP materials and to improve the passive safety of vehicles.

Post-doc Researched at the Department of Mechanical Engineering - Technical University of Denmark (Copenhagen) under the supervision of Prof. Christian Berggreen, within the funded project CORTIR (Danish Energy Agency EUDP program). The project goal is the development of a reliability and predictive maintenance tool for blade structural integrity in wind energy farms. The research activities concern the characterization and development of a fracture mechanic model of the bimaterial interface in glass fiber-PVC foam sandwich panels subjected to bending and compressive loads.

During this research period I participated in industrial project with an automotive partner on the numerical simulation of NCAP, NHTSA homologation tests using ESI-VPS software.During this project I also worked in the definition of numerical models for material behavior under dynamic loading, as well as development and testing of composite materials under variable strain-rates.

University PhD student at the Department of Industrial Engineering - University of Bologna under the supervision of Prof. Lorenzo Donati and Ing. Enrico Dolcini of Riba Composites, Faenza (RA).During my PhD I participated in the CARIM Project (H2020-FTIPilot-2015-1 Grant Agreement no. 690915) where I defined material selection requisites, planned and executed the test campaign and assisted the industrial partners in selecting the optimal system for manufacturability and structural performance.Other activities during My PhD were:- Textile permeability characterisation for resin infusion manufacturing process.- Numerical simulation of RTM process.- Modelling of CFRP mechanical performance following thermal oxidation ageing cycles.- Structural dynamic simulation of CFRP subjected to crash loading.
