UCLA Brain Tumor Imaging Lab (BTIL).Application and validation of advanced MRI techniques to assess brain tumor biology and response to treatment. Main projects:- Application of Multi-Echo Perfusion Imaging (Dynamic Susceptibility Imaging) to Brain Tumors, to quantitatively measure Contrast Agent leakage effects;- Radiological descriptive and predictive assessment of Laser Interstial Thermal Therapy (LITT) on Brain Metastases;- Evaluation of Tumor Growth Rate in Primary Brain Tumors and correspondences with animal models.

In the Ellingson Brain Tumor Imaging Laboratory, I participated in research projects involving advanced quantitative neuroimaging techniques, mainly applied to primary brain tumors.

I am collaborating with Alpha Test on their SSM course, aimed at preparing Medical Doctors and Medical Students to take the Italian National Residency Test (SSM). As their reference collaborator for the Radiology section, I teach classes (online), provide teaching materials, and provide multiple-choice quiz for training, along with the corresponding comments/explanations regarding the correct answers.

- September 2021 - October 2022: abroad year at UCLA as a Visiting Researcher- November 2018 - May 2019 AND May 2021 - August 2021: Clinical and Research activity in Neuroradiology at IRCCS Mondino Foundation Pavia. Clinical activities included the acquisition of CT and MRI neuroimages, as well as writing radiology reports. Research activity had a special focus on Arterial Spin Labeling perfusion imaging in pediatric epilepsy.- May 2019 - April 2021: Clinical activity in IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, including body CT, abdomen MRI and prostate MRI, X-rays, Ultrasounds; Research activity in Neuroradiology at IRCCS Mondino Foundation Pavia.

I participated in Research and Clinical Activities.MR Tractography is the main technique I worked on, both for Clinical and Research purposes. In this period I concluded my analyses on a pipeline to combine fMRI and Tractography, which I developed in the occasion of my MD degree thesis project. The results of this study were published by Frontiers in Neuroscience (Sanvito et al, Front Neurosci 2020), and were also discussed in several Neuroradiology Societies meetings: ASNR 2017, AINR 2017, Functional AINR 2017, ISMRM Italian Chapter 2018.In addition, I carried out other Research studies, such as a quantitative Tractography study assessing along-tract NODDI metrics. The results of this study I co-authored were published by Human Brain Mapping (Pieri and Sanvito et al, Hum Brain Mapp 2020), and also discussed at ISMRM meeting in 2019.As for the clinics, I was involved in the CT and MRI image acquisition and reports, in clinical cases discussion, and in the neonatal brain US screenings.

I worked with a GP, in Vascular Surgery Unit, and Nephrology Unit. In this occasion, my clinical skills were tested and I was deemed eligible to obtain the Italian Medical License.

I learned how to perform residual bootstrap q-ball tractography and participated in clinical and research activity in the Neuroradiology Unit.

I worked in Day Hospital and Bone Marrow Transplantation units (directed by Professor Fabio Ciceri, MD), participating in the daily clinical activity under the supervision of Andrea Assanelli, MD.

I participated in research studies concerning Microvescicles and their role in Neuro-inflammation under the supervision of Roberto Furlan, MD PhD; Federico Colombo, PhD; and Giacomo Casella, PhD.

In the Henry Lab, I improved my skills in performing residual bootstrap q-ball probabilistic tractography and gained basic Dipy/Python knowledge, while working on my MD thesis project. The results were published in the article "fMRI-Targeted High-Angular Resolution Diffusion MR Tractography to Identify Functional Language Tracts in Healthy Controls and Glioma Patients"

I attended the Fiorina Lab and took part in the research activity.
