As Director of Crow Architecture I focus on projects that work towards meeting the net zero challenge. I work with individuals, families, communities and organisations to conserve the best of their existing buildings, adapt them to achieve high levels of energy efficiency and through retrofit and extension, create sustainable environments in which people, animals and nature thrive. Projects always start by valuing the potential of low-impact, sustainable development within the rural context. I also work closely with individuals and families who are keen to look at ways of improving their home and work environments and in doing so meeting the RIBA 2030 climate challenge which in turn will contribute to the UK reaching net zero carbon emission by 2050.In bringing together my experience from teaching, research, engaged-arts practice and as a professional architect, I am also interested in working with communities and organisations such as, co-housing groups and community land trusts in developing projects that create a sustainable future and bring redundant land and buildings back into use.I am a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) and of the Association for Environment Conscious Building (AECB). I value SPABs approach of ‘conservative repair’ of heritage buildings and apply this to both older buildings and sustainable retrofits of more contemporary structures.
