My name is Franchesca (Frankie) Porter. I pursuing a PhD in Physical Activity Epidemiology in the department of Kinesiology at Iowa State University. I am passionate about uncovering the role physical activity and exercise play as determinants of health across diverse populations, and translating this research to individuals in the real world (products, policy, promotion). Prior to PhD, I lectured full-time at Graceland University teaching content centered around Exercise Science and Physical Performance. During this time I also used my clinical Athletic Training License to cover local athletic events PRN, ranging from state tournaments to professional arena football.I am a proud Drake University Bulldog where I had the privilege to earn both my Master's of Athletic Training (MAT) and my Bachelor's of Science in Clinical and Applied Health Sciences. Outside of 'work', I am the head Powerlifting Coach for Black Collar Crossfit's Powerlifting Club in the heart of downtown Des Moines. I am a competitive powerlifter and owe much of my own strength development to my time spent lifting with the Drake University Weightlifting Club and MAD Strength Lab.
