I am a team player with expertise in oncology, CNS and inflammation. I have a college degree in biomedical science with a major in medical laboratory science, and experience performing clinical hematology, serology and microbiology tests. I completed a Masters and a PhD in cellular and molecular biology with focus on tumor microenvironment and drug repurposing. I worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the department of neurosurgery and in the department of pathology at Harvard Medical School/Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for 5 years. My research was performed in close collaboration with different physicians and industry partners.I am currently a scientist at Myeloid Therapeutics where I worked in the preclinical development of MT-303. A CAR therapy targeting GPC3 delivered via LNPs to monocytes.I have experience on genetically and pharmacologically modulation of multiple pathways to overcome resistance in cancer and in opening blood brain barrier to improve drug delivery. I have knowledge studying and targeting inflammatory signaling in multiple cancer models, central nervous system and cardiovascular diseases. I have characterized key players of inflammatory pathways in brain cells of embryonic vs adult stage whose dysregulation have been linked to cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Parkinson and Alzheimer disease. During my career I have worked directly with physicians to characterize biomarkers that can predict sensitivity and resistance of cancers to chemo and radiotherapy. Over the last decade I have designed and executed in vitro, in vivo and ex vivo basic and translational research projects, many of them involving patient samples.I am passionate not only about finding better treatments for diseases but also discovering prognostic and diagnostic biomarker that can guide physicians and improve the life of patients. As I continue to grow in my career, I would like to leverage my drug discovery and translational biomarker experience to help companies to bring their products and services into clinical stage. My areas of interest include, but are not limited to oncology, rare diseases, neurology, pharmacology, immunology, microbiology, diagnostic and prognostic tests, biomarker discovery, cell and molecular biology, gene therapy, inflammation, drug development, in vitro and in vivo preclinical assays, clinical strategy, fundraising, project management, medical and regulatory affairs, prevention of diseases and promotion of a healthier life style.
