I'm writing for the Chicago Booth Review (formerly Capital Ideas) magazine and its accompanying blog to highlight the research of Booth faculty for policy makers. I also have written for The Stigler Center ProMarket blog.

I taught a custom-developed Maymester course at Baylor University, in Waco, Texas, 201920, ACC 5V98 M1 - Business Journalism. Intended for graduate accounting/finance and communications/journalism students, this Maymester intensive business journalism course students learned how to ask good questions, gather evidence, and write persuasively-- skills that are essential to journalism/writing careers and an accounting/audit career.Students also learned how modern media sees its role as a financial markets watchdog and how it interacts with companies and professional services firms such as accounting, consulting and law firms. Reporters can still break big financial stories and make an impact, like Fortune’s Bethany McLean’s did to kickstart the questioning of Enron’s financials and John Carreyrou at the Wall Street Journal did with Theranos.Journalists also perform a public duty to deliver truth to power, and to do it objectively and responsibly, supported by evidence. They are an important part of the information environment alongside financial analysts and auditors.Thanks to Dr. Gia Chevis, CMA, the Graduate Program Director and PricewaterhouseCoopers Fellow for Teaching Excellence who is the Clinical Associate Professor in Department of Accounting and Business Law who asked and then encouraged me to do this. Thanks also to the Accounting and Business Law Department Chair, Associate Professor Bradley Lail, who was my host in Waco.

Cases include successful class action for consumer law non-compliance in Oregon, lawsuit against an auditor for early resignation of an engagement and Madoff and Petters Ponzi scheme feeder fund cases with a Big 4 audit firm as a defendant.•International Truck Manufacturer (Navistar, Warrenville, IL) – Developed the Sarbanes-Oxley Quality Assurance Program and responsible for all quality assurance for the work performed by Navistar Corporate Audit employees and their vendors. Ms. McKenna also consulted with their VP of Internal Audit on the restructuring and revitalization of this company’s internal audit function post-restatement.•Grant Thornton (Chicago, Cleveland and Mexico) – McKenna Partners supported this global accounting firm in Sarbanes related IT Audit projects in Mexico and the US. Ms. McKenna and her team completed the IT governance related Sarbanes 404 work for a large manufacturing company with international operations. Activities included documentation, controls identification, testing and remediation.•Moore Stephens Orozco Medina (Mexico City, MX) – McKenna Partners is supporting this regional accounting firm to develop an internal audit and Sarbanes-Oxley-related Services Practice.•Compuware Mexico – Ms. McKenna and her team provided training and functional support in Sarbanes Oxley, COSO and COBIT concepts to the México operation’s technical team of this IT software and services company. •Pink Elephant Mexico – Ms. McKenna provided specialized consulting to the México office of this education, training and consulting firm that focuses on the ITIL IT Service Management framework.

Led the successful achievement of Year 2000 readiness for Latin America operations.
