Bench Scientist:Supervised by Dr. John Calarco (Ph.D.), the aim of my research was to better understand the molecular mechanisms associated with aging and longevity in Caenorhabditis elegans. Project Focus:By examining the differences in pharyngeal gland cell gene expression patterns and their connection to the well studied dauer state, I was able to identify a gene phat-2. This gene plays an important role in the entry and exit of this alternative developmental state.
