My name is Francis Egan; I am a recent graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a minor in History. I spent my time at WVU hosting a news podcast at U92 The Moose: our college radio, and studying American history with a focus on post-World War II America and the social reform movements therein. In my previous role as sole Digital Content Producer for WDTV 5 News in Bridgeport, West Virginia, I developed strong interpersonal and communication skills, essential for cultivating sources within my community to gather news and information effectively. These experiences have given me an innate curiosity about local stories and a passion for reporting the news. As Digital Content Producer, my I took charge of reaching out to public officials such as the Division of Highways, the CDC, and the National Weather Service for emergency announcements, as well as coordinating communication between our station and several Senators and Sheriff’s Offices across 13 different counties. In addition to identifying and monitoring reliable sources, I also spearheaded managing the online content for 4 daytime anchors, 6 multimedia journalists, 3 television producers, and 2 meteorologists.
