Novapac July 2023 – Current Extrusion OperatorResponsibilities● Job Card Interpretation: Analyse and interpret job cards received from the planning department to ensure accurate execution of production tasks.● Material Organization: Efficiently organize and prepare raw materials and consumables necessary for production jobs.● Extruder Setup: Configure extruders in accordance with company procedures to optimize production efficiency.● Line Startup: Initiate production lines, ensuring all operational parameters adhere to established standards and that all startup procedures are meticulously followed.● Quality Assurance: Monitor product quality throughout the production process, ensuring compliance with both client specifications and company quality standards.● Routine Quality Checks: Conduct regular quality assessments and laboratory tests, including but not limited to:➢ Shrink test➢ Tear test➢ Printability/adhesion test➢ Chemical resistance test (as per client requirements)➢ Slip test➢ Tension test● Documentation: Accurately document all production activities, maintaining comprehensive records for quality control and compliance purposes.● Operator Oversight: Ensure that all operators adhere to established procedures, intervening as necessary to adjust in response to deviations.● Communication of Deviations: Promptly communicate any operational deviations to the operations manager to facilitate timely corrective actions.

Responsibilities• Ensure extrusion lines are set and running correctly and to schedule.• Oversee the production of quality extruded products.• Perform head, die, and pin cleaning, changing, and setting.• Conduct barrel and screw cleaning.• Manage process start-up and shutdown of the line.• Monitor and maintain product quality in accordance with specifications.• Liaise with production colleagues and attend weekly meetings.• Assist with trials and first-off approvals.• Engage hands-on to achieve optimum production.• Assist the Extrusion Manager with the training of apprentices and trainees.• Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of yourself and all personnel in the department.• Minimize extruded product scrap.• Maintain good housekeeping within the department (5S methodology).• Monitor product quality and report any non-conformances.• Conduct laboratory mechanical tests on the product.• Assist with maintaining operating manuals and procedures for each extrusion line.• Notify the Production Manager of any breakdowns.• Assist workshop personnel during maintenance or repair activities.

Responsibilities● Job Card Interpretation: Accurately interpret job cards to ensure alignment with production requirements and specifications.● Resource Organization: Efficiently organize and prepare all necessary resources for the job, ensuring optimal workflow.● Line Setup:● Mount the die, spiral, and mandrel onto the extrusion head.● Install the die and cooling bath along the production line, as well as the haul-off unit.● Material Preparation: Mix materials as per specifications and set up machine parameters to ensure precise production.● Pre-Startup Inspection: Conduct thorough inspections of the line prior to startup to verify readiness and compliance with safety standards.● Quality Assurance: Ensure that the quality of products meets customer requirements and matches established master samples.● Material Proficiency: Work with a variety of materials including PVC, LDPE, HDPE, PMMA, Styrene, polyester, Nylon, and various engineering plastics, tailored to customer specifications.

ResponsibilitiesTeam Leader- Pipe and Profile Extrusion● Prepare extrusion lines before production, ensuring all necessary materials are in place.● Acquire and organize all tooling required for each job.● Mount all tooling, including dies, calibrators, pins, etc., on the machines.● Ensure adherence to established production procedures.● Conduct comprehensive quality checks throughout the entire production process.● Strip machines and clean tools as needed.● Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment.● Continuously calibrate tooling and supervise operators.● Ensure all operators adhere strictly to operational procedures.Production Foreman – Injection Moulding• Interpret job cards, including details on products to be manufactured, cycle time, production time, and materials required.• Organize and prepare raw materials, polymers, pigments, masterbatches, etc.• Mix and compound raw materials accurately.• Arrange tooling, moulds, clamps, rings, nozzles, and other necessary accessories.• Set machine parameters according to specified requirements.• Mount moulds onto the machine and ensure proper water piping connections.• Start the machine and verify that the produced product matches the provided samples.• Conduct continuous quality checks and document any deviations with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).• Adjust machine parameters as needed to maintain quality standards.• Record quality checks and compile production reports.• Ensure adherence to production quarantines and requirements.• Properly shut down the machine.• Safely remove the mold, inspect it, and spray it before packing.Alongside extrusion I have worked with fabrication machines in the line.Main duties were bellying pipes.I also worked extensively in PVC welding of pipes and joints for site projects as well as customer products that were in the factory.We used hot gas welding with welding strips as well as but welding.Duties involved reading drawings and welding.
