Contracted Resource Efficiency Manager (REM) at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. In ten months developed four major projects: 1) Replace over 1,200 airfield incandescent lights with LEDs; 2) convert over 600 exterior solar light fixtures with LEDs and other new equipment; 3) upgrade 36 commercial boilers with new efficient boilers and controls; and 4) apply insulating, ceramic thermal anti-corrosive coatings to rooftop, exterior HVAC equipment, and also to cooling tower. The base received a national energy award partially in response to this project.

Contracted Resource Efficiency Manager (REM) responsible for energy and water efficiency projects and renewables development at one of the largest installations in the US Air Force.Oversaw the scoping, financing, and implementation of thirty-five major lighting retrofits at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). Other retrofit projects include infrared heating, envelope improvements, compressed air systems, and expansion of Energy Management Control System (EMCS). Created the Department of Defense’s first “EMCS Analyst” program, in which a contractor interacts with building staff and operates the EMCS to focus solely on energy savings as opposed to traditional purposes (diagnostics, efficient dispatch, etc.). After 3 years estimated savings exceeded $2.3 million with an ROI well over 300 percent.Coordinated $2.7 million retro-commissioning project.Piloted an advanced meter reading (AMR) system in which utility meters (electric, gas, water, and wastewater) were integrated into the EMCS.Developed project to convert JBER exterior lighting to LEDs with advanced controls.Responsible for creation of US Air Force’s first base-level systematic, comprehensive evaluation of compressed air systems.As part of joint basing helped lead the effort to integrate the energy management programs of the Air Force and Army components of JBER.Oversaw the installation of the first transpired solar collector (solar wall) in Alaska.Helped spearhead the development at JBER of an on-site landfill gas power plant whose net present value exceeded $44 million.Guided stakeholders towards the goals of developing wind energy projects both on and off-site, and also towards a tidal generation plant in Cook Inlet adjacent to JBER.

Directed sales and marketing staff at high-end specialty infrared manufacturing firm located in suburban Seattle. Grew and diversified the customer base, culminating in a national contract with Home Depot that greatly enhanced the company’s prior precarious financial position.

Administered the US Department of Energy (USDOE) Office of Industrial Technology Motor Challenge Program, persuading motor manufacturers, utilities, end-users, and other stakeholders to promote and adopt energy-efficient motor system practices. Coordinated with USDOE national and regional staff. Managed national training program, including marketing to industrial firms, particularly motor manufactures, and associations such as the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Federation, and state, local, and federal governments.

Managed statewide energy management program for state agencies, schools, and local governments, offering training, conferences, written materials, energy accounting software, and energy efficiency design services for new construction and major renovations. Led marketing and training activities for energy accounting software developed by the agency, and performed program evaluations.

Worked in team who oversaw electrical power purchases, sales, and related contracts. Assisted political affairs group in Olympia and fisheries biologists on Skagit River in preparation for utility's 50-year FERC relicensing.
