About Francis Soyer

For almost 20 years, my role at Tennis Australia has been to help the company produce Grand Slam Champions that Australia can be proud of. Teams that I have managed and been a part of do this by creating and delivering memorable event experiences that are strategically aligned to this company objective. My greatest achievement was the creation of the December Showdown National Carnival. The 16-day event held at Melbourne Park before the Australian Open brings the entire tennis community together to showcase Australia's aspiring elite players. The December Showdown product and brand is now linked to all player development pathways as well as being the start to the Australian summer of tennis. I am also honoured to have the responsibility of being the Junior Championships Tournament Director of the Australian Open. This provides me with the opportunity to build and develop relationships with the game's next generation of players. The goal and culture of the Junior Championships team is to expose the next generation of stars to the "Happy Slam" brand that the Australian Open is world-renown for. I am passionate about establishing and building relationships with people throughout their journey across all areas of sport and business. I am motivated to be a part of the sports, events (associated sport and event brands) or FMCG industry in the future, especially during these difficult times because it is a time when innovation, collaboration and diverse thinking are at its peak.My passion and motivation to continue learning lead me to undertake the challenge of completing an MBA part-time between 2012 and 2015 at Australia's #1 MBA program, Melbourne Business School. I have implemented many of the frameworks and concepts at Tennis Australia as can be seen from my achievements below. I also co-founded the Melbourne Business School Sports Industry Alumni Group in 2016 that have organised events for MBS Alumni to network and learn about the business of sports in Australia. My personal passion is being the best father to my 6 year-old daughter as I can possibly be. My goal in life is to show her that if you work hard, never back down from a challenge, be friendly to others and live life with a positive attitude, that she will achieve many great things in life.
