I have been in the data privacy space since 2013 in multiple capacities. I was the first Complaints and Investigation Division Chief of the National Privacy Commission, which I led for several years. I was part of the team that drafted the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), among many other issuances of the NPC. As a Division Chief, I was trained in penetration testing, digital and network forensics.I am a Master Privacy Trainer for the National Association of Data Protection Officers of the Philippines, and have been teaching data privacy law and practice for around as long as I have been active in the data privacy space. I have been a member of the faculty of the Far Eastern University Institute of Law since 2014.Currently, I am the Data Privacy Officer of the Manila Electric Company and also of its subsidiaries. In this role I manage compliance with Philippine data privacy laws of one of the Philippines’ largest conglomerates.I am also a founding director and a member of the Board of Trustees of Democracy.Net.PH, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to the public sector at the intersection of technology and law, with a focus on internet freedom, online rights, development, and security.
