Isle Of Skye

I’ve worked for Mike Lates since Summer 2011, spending most of the summer there that year, this followed a period of getting to know the Cullin in the preceding months in all weathers including some winter climbing. I had first been to Skye with a friend James in 2005 and we had perfect weather first time for a traverse of the ridge. I have now worked there for three years, 2011, 2013 spring and Autumn and the same last year in 2014. I plan to spend a substantial amount of time there this year in 2015 too.So far on Skye this year I spent a few days in the winter doing mountaineering days and am looking forward now to dry rock, and the snow remaining in the northern and shady aspects for glissading hopefully lasting till the end of May, especially around the northern end of the ridge.

Expeditions to...April 2013 - Nepal; Mera and Island Peaks crossing the Amphu labsta Pass (successfully summiting Mera with 5 of 6 exped members, unsuccessful on Island Peak but making the final Summit Slope.July/Aug 2013 - Kyrgyzstan Unclimbed peaks and Khan Tengri, 6 4thousanders in the Tien Shan summited graded F to D Alpine grades. On Khan Tengri 2 out of 4 members made it to camp 3, spending 2 nights there and then descended whilst the weather was not improving. Oct / Nov 2013 Mera and Baruntse
