I was born in Villena (Alicante) in 1963, although my life has always been linked to the village of Beneixama (Alicante). I obtained my B. Sc. (1986), M. Sc. (1988), and Ph. D. (1991) degrees in Chemistry at the University of Alicante (UA). In 1992 I received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. After a postdoctoral stay (1992-1994) as a Fleming scholar at the University of Oxford (UK), with Professor S. G. Davies, I moved back to the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Alicante. I am currently Full Professor of Organic Chemistry. I am co-author of 127 articles, 4 patents and 5 book chapters. Member of the editorial board of Current Green Chemistry (Bentham Publishers) and Nanomaterials (MDPI). My research focuses on the development of new synthetic methodologies based on metal nanoparticles, on heterocyclic chemistry, Green Chemistry and the synthesis of structures present in natural or synthetic products with prominent biological activity. I have been director of the Institute of Organic Synthesis and coordinator of the doctorate programme in Organic Synthesis (2013-2021). I am a member of the Institute of Organic Synthesis (ISO) since its foundation and a founder member of the Technological Base Company Medalchemy S. L.Placed in the top 1% of reviewers in Chemistry on Publons global reviewer database (2017-2019). I am among the 100 and 26 most influential researchers in the Valencian Community and the UA, respectively, according to a study by the Stanford University, "Ranking of the World Scientists: World's Top 2% Scientists" (March 2021). I am among the 39 most cited UA researchers in the world, according to the Elsevier ranking (October 2022).
