I worked at the University of Oklahoma's College of Professional and Continuing Studies (formerly OU College of Liberal Studies) from July 1992 to January 2020. I participated in and led a period of intense change during my tenure at the college. This is a college dedicated to the needs and circumstances of adult learners. Founded in 1961, it was one of the very first adult degree programs in the nation. When I started work at the college in 1992, we offered only one undergraduate and one graduate degree in an independent study paper-based format, and we were smallest (headcount) enrollment college on campus. Thanks in part to my leadership and reliable service, during my employment the college became the second largest on campus. I participated and led the transition from old-fashioned independent paper-based academic programming to fully online asynchronous degree programming. We added four new undergraduate degree options, and four new graduate degree options. We were the first college at the University of Oklahoma to offer degree programs completely online. We grew from less than 300 total students in 1992 to over 700 enrolled undergraduate students and almost 500 graduate students during the fall 2019 semester. During my time working at the University of Oklahoma, I completed my Master of Liberal Studies with an emphasis on American Religious History and religious extremism. My master's degree was written about David Koresh and the Branch Davidians. Since that time, I have evolved expertise and knowledge in the areas of domestic and international terrorism and comparative religion. I created and taught a popular course titled "Evil Acts, Religious Reasons" for over 10 years at the University of Oklahoma. As a former journalist, with an undergraduate degree in English (professional writing concentration) and a minor in mass communications, I am uniquely qualified to serve in any capacity requiring excellent written and oral communication skill. As a dedicated life long learner, I have strong critical thinking skills, honed and enhanced by years of continuing studies in the humanities and social sciences. As an early adapter and pioneer in adult online education, I taught online course from 1996 to 2020. have broad exposure and experience with several learning management systems, and in the processes and procedures required to create, obtain approval, administer and deliver distance education programming.
