Francisco Ros holds two PhDs, one from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) and another from the Engineering University of Madrid (Doctor in Telecommunications from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). He also holds an Advanced Management Program degree (PADE) from IESE Business School.Since 2016, Dr. Ros is Chairman of First-Tech Engineering S.L. (main focus on advance technology equipments -connectivity, sensoring, gammification- for fitness sector, www.techbestfitness.com) and, since 2022, President of eXRcise, (an XR -extended reality- software platform to develop and run XR applications to improve people overall wellness through sport practices). He is also Professor Ad-Honoren at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid.For nine years, since 2011 to 2020, Dr. Ros has been active Member of Qualcomm Board of Directors, and of its Governance and Financial Committees. He has also been Chairman of Asurion Spain, and member of Asurion European Advisory Board.From May 2004 to July 2010, Dr. Ros was Spain’s Secretary of State (Viceminister) for Telecommunications and the Information Society. He managed migration from analog to digital TV, started digitation of most important Administration procedures -including national identification card, passport, and health services- and made significant contributions to mobile coverage and information society developments, both at social and entrepreneurial level. During 2010 first semester, Dr. Ros had a proactive role at EU Telecom and Information Society level, with the occasion of the Spanish Presidency, an was key to the first European Digital Agenda approvement. He has been co-founder, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Alúa - BroadBand Optical Access- and President and CEO of Unisource (JV among KPN, Telia, Swisscom and Telefonica). From 1983-1996, Dr. Ros headed several business areas within the Telefónica Group and became Managing Director of Telefonica International, Managing Director of Telefonica, the holding company, and member of its Executive Management Board. In addition, he has been a member of the Board, among others, of AT&T Micro-electronics, WorldPartners and Infonet in the U.S., Mannesmann Arcor in Germany, Siris in France, Entel in Peru, CANTV in Venezuela, CTC in Chile and Entel, TS1 and Inteco (now Incibe) in Spain. Francisco Ros is recipient of the Great Cross of the Order of Civil Merit and of the Great Plate of the Telecommunications and the Information Society Merit, both granted by the Government of Spain.
