Challenging experience, but a successful revamping of the entire laboratory department including: staff, equipment, policy and procedure manuals, analytical test methods and workflow processes evaluation. Intense focus on proficiency testing scores improvement, transfusion medicine, pathology, regulatory compliance, LIS implementation and maintenance, customer service and Press Ganey survey scores emphasis, provided reference laboratory testing for multiple regional clients. Coordinated laboratory services between multiple health system clinics to provide efficient and quality services. Implemented non-DOT and DOT drug testing program for many businesses in the region. Functioned as the clinical coordinator and primary instructor for MLT students from McLennan Community College and Central Texas College. Recipient of the “Community of Year Award 2011” and the “Platinum Award 2014” from Carter BloodCare Services for increased blood donation services and blood donor education. Achieved Texas DSHS LRN Sentinel Laboratory certification. Performed patient testing in all sections of the laboratory as needed. COLA accredited laboratory.

Primary duties included but were not limited to: staffing, performing competency assessments and employee evaluations, budget preparation, workflow process analysis, statistical efficiency and quality studies, in-house reference lab testing implementation, LIS upgrade and transition, leadership training, proficiency and quality control testing review, health system reference testing coordination for area specialty hospitals and physician offices, regulatory compliance and re-education of the phlebotomy staff to improve and consistently maintain Press Ganey scores above the ninety-fifth percentile. My responsibility was to resurrect a failed startup laboratory within a physician-owned specialty hospital. This task was accomplished in less than four weeks. The most significant aspect of the task was to regain physician and patient confidence in the laboratory services provided. Duties included but were not limited to: staffing, policy and procedure development, work flow process analysis and implementation, inventory control, budget preparation, financial analysis, business development, contract negotiations, team building, networking with area hospitals, providing full laboratory services to customers.
