It all began when I was 14. I received a book that talked about where we’d be by the year 2000. Its pages were filled with amazing photographs of flying cars, life beneath the sea, robots in every home and telepathic communication. The year 2000 has come and gone and these prophecies didn’t come true, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think about that book and the possibilities every day. That book has impacted my life in so many ways as did a SVI 318 computer that my parents gave in the Summer of 1984. When I got my computer, I became extremely interested in computers. It opened a whole new world for me. Back then no one knew that a modem was. They didn’t know how powerful the internet would be today. I am fortunate to be able to say that I have seen the internet be born. I have connected to BBS and my articles have been published in both magazines and newspapers. I have had the opportunity to give lectures, create games and applications. My career path and my life became so much more than I could have hoped for because of the internet and the opportunities that technology present. It’s like a whole new world appeared in front of me. I never imagined being a businessman but I became one when I created a few companies which do work for the digital world and computer security. And then I got to sell one of the companies and begin a project that was a dream of mine as a child – building a robot. The book I got as a child said it was coming and maybe it is up to me to help make it happen for our world. Whether I succeed or not is yet to be seen but I’m optimistic, and no matter what, I can always say I tried. Robotics could be the way of the future. A book planted a seed in my brain all those years ago and now I mean to make that seed grow and become something amazing, something technologically astounding. My hope is that when I am old, I can look back on my work and see that I’ve made a monumental difference on the environment that I am so fortunate to live in.
