Student ResearcherTu Delft Feb 2013 - Oct 2013Delft Area, NetherlandsTitle: "A Modern Controller for the Hydraulic System of the SIMONA Flight Simulator"This project came from the need to improve the motion simulation performance of the Delft University of Technology high-fidelity flight simulator - SIMONA.Having in mind the motion control system performance evaluation, the project started with the calibration of the length sensors and the development of a methodology to evaluate the performance of the motion control.After concluding that the main approach would be improving the control scheme that enables force generator behaviour in the hydraulic actuators, methods such as the Cascaded Pressure Difference Controller (CdP), Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (NDI) and Incremental Nonlinear Dynamic Inversion (INDI) were investigated. Furthermore, Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) was included in the system to better estimate its physical properties. -

As a tour guide, I showed the museum to diverse groups, ranging from kindergarten children, to university students, foreign visitors and seniors from associations across the country, explaining not only the technical operation of the old power plant, but also focusing on social and human issues. I also demonstrated laboratory experiments related to electricity, with the purpose of enhancing the taste for science in students.
