• Collaborated on the design and execution of a three-day simulation on participatory budgeting for 105 graduate public policy students, using the city of Guadalajara, Mexico, as case study.• Developed budget guide and ten thematic policy primers on Guadalajara to be used during the simulation on topics like climate action, education, health, economic development, and community-building.

• Developed framework to assess the elements that facilitate the emergence of fintech innovation hubs in developing countries based on analysis of a wide range of academic papers, industry reports, and case studies.• Wrote a case study assessing the emergence of São Paulo, Brazil, as a fintech innovation hub to inform policy recommendations for the Office of the Science and Technology Adviser.• Edited and authored sections of a 30-page report integrating five case studies of fintech innovation hubs from India, the UAE, Brazil, and China, drafted by an international team.

• Coordinated revisions of a Mitigation Action Design Document with stakeholders from Peru, Switzerland, and Ghana, resulting in a financially viable composting project across four Ghanaian cities, targeting 20 million USD in tradable emission reductions by 2030.• Structured and finalized a project document for the allocation of 40 million USD in contributions from Sweden and Canada for operationalizing cooperation actions under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement in ten countries, including public-private partnerships for carbon credit trading.• Drafted a Mitigation Action Design Document for a solar-powered cold storage initiative in Ghana set to attract investors and deliver nearly half a million tons of verified emission reductions, preventing 300,000 tons of food waste annually from 2024 to 2030.

• Developed initial proposals to the Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) Facility on GHG mitigation strategies for the energy, waste, and agriculture sectors in collaboration with UNDP Country Offices in Mauritius, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.• Designed a prototype project portfolio structure used by UNDP Country Offices for tracking energy access indicators of projects implemented by UNDP worldwide.• Drafted environmental safeguards sections of seven projects on solar-powered food production and cold chain services, industrial energy efficiency, and improved cookstoves in Africa, Asia, and Oceania to be presented for funding to the UNDP’s Carbon Payments for Development Facility (CP4D).• Conducted feasibility assessments of policies for increasing energy access in three countries in Africa—Mali, Mauritania, and Guinea—to guide UNDP future engagement in these countries.

• Climate Resilience Project in Puebla, Mexico, through a Dow Sustainability Fellowship.• Planned and led a 2-week field visit to Puebla, Mexico, to develop a Community Needs Assessment of two rural communities employing participation tools: interviews, focus groups, and surveys.• Coordinated all communications from our student team at the University of Michigan and our partners: FXB International and the Juconi Foundation, a local NGO in Puebla, to coordinate research and implementation throughout the project.

• Monitored and evaluated performance of seven projects on nature-based solutions, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, and fire management supported by the Fund across the State of Jalisco, representing an investment of 1 million USD. • Collaborated in the design of a successful proposal submitted for funding to the Governors’ Climate and Forests Task Force for 1 million USD related to silvopastoral systems in partnership with a local NGO.• Facilitated collaboration among a ten-person team to develop the administrative and financial structure of the Fund through the implementation of a project planning tool and internal communication.• Selected, trained, and coordinated a team of three interns to support the project monitoring and evaluation activities of the Fund.

• Internship at the Coordination of Strategic Projects of the Secretariat of Environment and Territorial Development of Jalisco.• Designed project proposals in cooperation with international organizations, such as the Development Bank of Latin America, related to sustainability in the supply chains of tequila and beef.• Assisted in the administration of the Environmental Fund of Jalisco by coordinating regular meetings of the Fund’s governance bodies, managing all correspondence, and reviewing partnership agreements with NGOs, other government agencies, and the private sector.• Wrote two handbooks for energy saving in residences and office buildings with actionable recommendations for the different climate regions in Jalisco in partnership with the Climate Change Department.

• Mitacs Globalink Research Internship at the Energy Innovation Laboratory (Merida Labs - https://meridalabs.ca/). Supervisors: Dr. Walter Mérida, Dr. Omar Herrera, and Dr. Jean Boucher.• Developed a methodology for assessing British Columbia’s Climate Action Plan by comparing production- versus consumption-based accounts of GHG emissions, applying an Environmentally Extended Multi-Regional Input-Output model, coded in Python.• Drafted a manuscript to publish the results in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

• Research Internship at the Institute of Renewable Energy. Supervisor: Dr. Alberto Coronado Mendoza.• Designed a virtual photovoltaic micro-grid, applying real-time energy monitoring and behavior change theories for energy saving for five buildings on a campus with over 7,000 students.• Led the writing of a research paper, currently published, and presented the results in a national conference in Queretaro, Mexico, and in an international conference in Guadalajara, Mexico.• Delivered key insights for the design of an energy efficiency certification for educational buildings.

• Research Internship (Programa Delfín) at the Advanced Engineering Center. Supervisor: Dr. Vicente Borja Ramírez.• Performed an energy analysis and carbon footprint assessment of the Advanced Engineering Center through a multidisciplinary approach, which included in-depth interviews.• Designed and presented a set of measures to mitigate the carbon footprint of the targeted building.
