I have worked on twenty-three issues of the magazine, and on a number of pieces of fiction and non-fiction, nominated to and winner of prizes such as the Sunday Times Short Story Award, the BBC National Short Story Award, Best American Essays, Best American Short Stories, the Orwell Prize, the Shirley Jackson Award and the Pushcart Prize.Key responsibilities:— Acquire, commission and edit fiction and non-fiction for the print and online editions of the quarterly magazine.— Manage all aspects of print production for the magazine, including scheduling, performing structural edits, line edits and copy edits, fact-checking and proofreading of pieces, liaising with contributors, agents, publishers and external proofreaders, commissioning translations, conducting picture research and art editing, all the while managing a small editorial team and coordinating with the marketing, publicity, sales and rights teams from Granta Publications.— Supervise all twelve international partners of Granta and their international editions.— Manage Submittable, the magazine’s online submissions platform.— Act as a point of contact between the magazine and the books division, Granta Books, which includes reading manuscripts on submission, advising on translation grants, and devising a digital strategy for the promotion of the Granta Books catalogue through the Granta website and all its social media channels.
