About Francis Evans

After 14 years in finance and business sponsorship roles at the UK's Department of Trade and Industry, I was seconded to lead the Learning Grid, an educational charity reporting to an industry-led board. The Learning Grid’s aim was to bring practical experience to the teaching of engineering and science in schools and create links between education and industry. In 2009 I returned to the Department, now BEIS, where I am Head of Business Finance in the Enterprise Group. I am responsible for policies and interventions in the SME finance markets, including sponsorship of the Government-owned British Business Bank.Expertise: public sector and non-profit management (both in an executive role and as trustee) and small business start-up. Excellent financial and analytical skills; good understanding of policy-making and strategy development. Experience of both setting and delivery of strategic objectives.
