My role progressed from Artist in Residence to Higher Learning Teaching Assistant (HLTA). The position is part-time which allows for the continuation of my practice.

The role evolved from initial volunteering and demonstrations to being asked to produce and discuss work to students. Concentrating predominately with key stage 4 & 5 students' ideas, knowledge and understanding flourished through the combined efforts of staff and having devoted contact time with an artist.

My practice attempts to question and reinvigorate the traditional figurative trope within painting together with presenting a contemporary aesthetic. The work consolidates ideas of deconstruction; an act of taking apart and rebuilding. The concept of deconstruction can be seen to allow the painting to develop and change during the process; which may also highlight the deconstruction of conventions and what is expected from figurative painting genre.
