Transcultures, Interdisciplinary Center for Sound and Electronic Cultures (Artistic Director: Philippe Franck) is an association born in 1996 in order to promote and develop crossings between contemporary artistic practices and arts/society/technology stakes; focusing in particular on sound art and digital creation. Since 2008, Transcultures is working on production, mediation and reflection regarding electronic and sound projects.

En 2003, la Ville de Mons, ayant la volonté de développer une politique culturelle tournée vers les pratiques artistiques contemporaines, lance avec Transcultures le festival des arts sonores City Sonic nouvelle manifestation estivale ouverte à tous au centre ville ; la proposition est originale et innovante: investir des lieux montois ayant une densité historique, architecturale ou sociale et proposer au public de les (re)découvrir principalement par le son. Depuis 2003, de nombreux artistes de marque invités par City Sonic sont passés par Mons afin de proposer leur interprétation de la ville : Diane Landry, Lab[au], le collectif Mu, Hans Peter Kuhn, Pierre Bastien, Phill Niblock, Jacques Rémus… City Sonic est devenu un lieu de rendez- vous pour bon nombre d’habitués et d’amoureux du son. En 2012, le festival City Sonic a fêté ses 10 ans d’art sonore en renforçant, dans une belle diversité et s'est étendu à Bruxelles et Huy. Show less

Transonic is an independent label dedicated to electronic, organic, poetic sounds… and other unlabelled. Transonic produce sound objects, specific events (concerts, performances, showcases…), hybrid works and events (installations, conferences, interdisciplinary collaborations…) in Belgium and abroad.
