Franco Bertora got his degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Genoa in 1966. After a few years spent as researcher at the University of Genoa, StanfordUniversity and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he became a tenured professor at the Department of Communication Computer and System Sciences (DIST) of the University of Genoa. In 1979 he moved to ANSALDO and since 1983 he has contributed to the growth of ESAOTE, developing the first MRI scanner to be installed in an Italian public hospital and then designing the “Artoscan”, the first dedicated MRI scanner for limb imaging, which gave birth to the Magnetic Resonance Division of the company.From 2006 to 2014 he held a senior scientist position at Italian Institute of Technology (IIT).From 2015 on he is an affiliate researcher of IIT.He taught as invited professor at the Physics and Biophysical and Electronic Engineering Departments of the University of Genoa and at the EuropeanSchool of Medical Physics.Franco Bertora has published several works on domestic and international journals and has served as an expert in different technical committees.
