The second story that I want to tell about Franco involved our work on a major logistics project, where I was the project manager. As a part of the project, we were focused on doing an econometric study showing the link between logistics and its multiplier effects on GDP growth in emerging market economies. One area where we ran into difficulty concerned the availability of key data points that would enable us to complete our analysis and validate our hypothesis. Franco worked to think of alternative approaches so that we could validate our hypothesis. He does not give up easily. It is this intensity and intentionality that sets up apart. When things get difficult, he works to think of alternative approaches to get the job done. He isn’t a linear thinker. He has the creativity, intensity, and the intentionality, to overcome obstacles. The most important story that I have to tell about Franco is his regard for the welfare of others. In the Philippines, there are many poor and marginal communities that struggle to make ends meet. As an undergraduate student, Franco founded an organization whose advocacy is to increase the financial literacy of marginalized people who sought to become entrepreneurs. He carried this advocacy to PwC, where he led a group of associates to execute an outreach program to teach financial literacy and basic business education to small entrepreneurs in marginal communities in Metro Manila. Further, they did this in Pilipino, which is a language that does not have inherently precise commercial words and metaphors used in the business community. That sums up Franco in several essential ideas: focus, intensity, intentionality, and a man concerned about others. He is a warrior-monk for the modern age. "
