I started as accountant at CCS Epping one of the branches in the company on 1 September 1987, with my role over time changing to Financial Manager.In August 1994 I was appointed General Manager of another cold store branch in the Company, CCS Paarden Eiland (previously known as Blue Continent Cold Storage), a position I held until September 2005. From October 2005 I was the Regional General Manager in the Western Cape until I moved into my current role effective October 2012.As General Manager and later Regional Manager, I had overall responsibility for all functions in the Branch, managing a multi-disciplinary team responsible for Operations, Accounting, Customers, Maintenance and Human Resources. During this period I had been responsible for the implementation of quality control systems right through the Company, organisational design leading to centralisation of certain functions from the branches to head office, search for, specification and implementation of a specialist 3PL PRW Warehouse Management System, amongst others.My current role includes 4 portfolios:1. oversight of all legal, risk, health and safety, food safety and environmental compliance, the management system that underpins the compliance thereof and the audit function;2. oversight of the commercial aspects of leases and other contracts;3. project management of expansions, large maintenance projects, new technology, and4. oversight of the Maintenance function of the Company, including Capex, Major Maintenance and Opex budgets.One of the interesting projects over the past 3 years had been the establishment of a cold storage facility in Angola.Other experience include a 3 year-stint representing the Company on the Board of the WFLO, a part of the Global Cold Chain Alliance, head-quartered in the USA.
