National Steering Committee (NSC) for the Southern African Customs Union + Mozambique Trade Capacity Building Programme (TCBP), now known as Trade Forward Southern Africa (TFSA).TFSA is aimed at supporting growth in trade and improving gender equality in trade and alleviating poverty across the countries within SACU (South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia) and Mozambique. TFSA also intends to provide technical assistance and capacity building support to assist SACU+M countries and market actors identify and remove Non-Tariff Barriers (NTBs) to Trade, including Standards, Regulations, Customs and Trade Facilitation, and to thrive in regional and global value chains with a specific emphasis on supporting women in trade.

- Responsibility to diversify economics research offerings to corporate & government clients. - Several research projects, which involved analysis, reporting, and presentations on the macro-economic outlook and characteristics of the national vs. regional economies.- Macro and micro economic time series analysis and economic model simulations of alternative scenarios for policy changes and input price bumping. - Part of the research team that founded the ReX (Regional Economic Explorer) – an integrated sub-national database of economic and social economic statistics. - Regular presentations to the major South African banks, multinationals, government entities and agencies.

Fixed income analyst for structured products division. Part of a team, which originated:- STRIPCO – an SPV for stripping RSA Government coupon paying debt into single zero coupon bonds. - SATRIX40 – an Exchange Traded Fund. The first listed ETF in South Africa. - Financial structured product development. Utilisation of insurance wrappers to warehouse derivate instruments. Structuring of tax-efficient delivery mechanisms. Counterparty credit included Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan & Merrill Lynch.- Application of various derivative structures to tailoring niche payoff profiles for high net individuals with large single stock exposures, in the form of “equity monetisations”.

- Day-to-day monitoring and interpretation of macroeconomic data releases to traders and strategists within treasury. Responsibilities included high frequency report writing and financial media interaction. - Strategic input to ABSA’ Asset and Liability Committee regarding economic outlook and interest rate sensitivity analysis. - Financial markets strategist to the Securities business, involving strategic trading analysis and market recommendations based on economic and fixed income research undertaken.- Macro-economic modelling and yield curve based trade research to the equities research team. - Interaction with equity and bond analysts to develop alternative investment concepts with focus on absolute returns.- Presentation of fixed income and economic research to institutional investors and group corporate clients.

WEFA Inc was a world-leading economics forecasting and consulting organisation founded by Nobel Prize winner Dr. Lawrence R. Klein.My responsibilities in the South African Office included:Developing macro-economic models for analysing the markets and economies of selected Sub-Saharan African countries in cooperation with WEFA Pennsylvania, USA. Some projects included econometric analysis on Swaziland, Uganda, Mozambique, Angola, Cameroon, Ghana and Lesotho for the then published WEFA World Economic Outlook. Part of a team, which: - Developed the Country Risk Analysis System (CRAS) for ABSA’s International Banking Department. - Compiled, aggregated and calculated the South African provincial Input-Output tables for the South African Competitiveness Monitor publications. - Developed and maintained the trade databases for the South Africa’s Foreign Trade publications, in cooperation with the ABSA Economic Research Department. - Developed and maintained the database for the US - South Africa Economic Yearbook, published by the National Foreign Trade Council, Washington DC, USA in cooperation with Deloitte.- Analysis included economic modelling and time series data manipulation in Excel, Aremos (proprietary WEFA software) and E-Views.
