Founding of the Bioengineering department in a biotechnology startup. Design and implementation of metabolic engineering projects. Creation and maintenance of the department’s shared databases, operating procedures, and collaborative tools. Hiring and mentoring of teammates.

Engineering of the acetogenic bacterium C. autoethanogenum to produce valuable chemicals from Greenhouse gas emissions.

I delivered three original research projects and developped reliable and scalable processes and protocols for the engineering of C. autoethanogenum as a biocatalyst for Carbon Capture and Utilisation.I mentored a team of ten undergraduates through a prestigious international competition of synthetic biology (they got a gold medal), and presented my work at numerous academic conferences and science outreach workshops with the wider public.

Coaching and mentoring of a multidisciplinary team of 10 undergraduates of the University of Nottingham who had no prior experience in synthetic biology, science outreach or research ethics. Their project, Notox, has provided a successful proof-of-concept for a scalable biosensor of the botulinum toxin in food processing. - Gold medal and nominations for Best Food and Nutrition project and Best Human Practices.

Postgraduate entrepreneurship competition. In charge of the market research and the scientific background of our product, as well as their presentation in front of a panel of plausible investors. - Best plant, microbial & environmental business plan. - Winner of the Environment category.

I carried out my own fermentation project at a 10L scale under minimal supervision. I met with the client, planned and coordinated the operation, and executed the process.

Metabolic engineering project using CRISPR/Cas9 for my Master thesis. The purpose was to enhance yeast’s productivity for Carbon-based chemicals.

4 biotechnology projects with minimal supervision. All the projects were within the framework of optimizing cyanobacteria for biofuel production, more specifically hydrogen production.

Daily harvest and caracterisation of microalgae cultures aimed at feeding fish. Daily operation of four pilot-scale photobioreactors (200L).

Our project, Mighty Coli, was to enhance the yield of bioreactors by increasing the homogeneity of the bacterial population. We engineered bacteria with a modified Toxin-Antitoxin system to kill bacteria that woud not produce enough of the protein of interest.I was in charge of the lab manipulations, the search for sponsors, the organisation of popularization events, the international collaboration with the iGEM team Uppsala, and I also took part in the description of our project on our website.

I taught students what they did not understand in the classroom, putting myself in their shoes to find a way to give clear explanations.

I set the objectives of the small business and led it throughout the competition, keeping the requirements and the deadlines in mind.In the end, the most challenging part was to handle the team and make everybody work together in a good atmosphere.
