As a senior consultant in the tax transformation team, I have helped companies deal with the evolving regulatory and societal expectations about their tax affairs. We have supported tax functions that wish to improve their governance arrangements, implement tax control and risk management frameworks, increase their tax transparency, review their tax operating models, or reduce their cost of compliance. K2 Management is a leading engineering and management consultancy in the renewable energy industry.As part of the Risk Management department, I supported clients by helping identifying, assessing, quantifying, and analysing project risks and opportunities, across all risk types.We used Monte-Carlo simulations and an internally-developed system to identify the necessary contingency levels with respect to project CapEx, and to prioritise mitigation efforts.We aimed to provide clients with clear and actionable data-supported risk information.

The Euroclear Group is a global provider of financial market infrastructure services, with about €28.6 trillion of assets under custody, and settling securities transactions for a total value over €733 trillion.From September 2017 to June 2018, I was an engagement manager on Euroclear's Brexit Programme team, set up to manage the risks that Brexit posed to the Euroclear Group.On this programme, I worked on two key streams; a first stream dedicated to setting up a new CSD in Ireland, and another stream focused on identifying and managing all the other risks that the Euroclear entities were facing. My time was mostly split between two roles:1. I did project and programme management work on both streams, and provided support as an internal consultant for deliverables that needed input and cooperation from different teams or divisions but where the ownership wasn't clear or obvious; and2. I prepared risk assessments for the programme, for senior management and for board committees, and followed-up the management of the identified risks with risk and action owners.Additionally, I regularly met with some clients to discuss how Euroclear was managing Brexit, and I prepared supporting material for other teams and relationship managers.

I was part of the risk management framework team in Euroclear group's Risk Management division. The team's role was to design, update and help embed Euroclear's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework across the three lines of defence, in line with regulatory and market expectations, and in line with Euroclear's mission and role as a key financial market infrastructure.My role was to ensure that Euroclear's risk management and risk governance arrangements are compliant with European regulations and international standards such as the Central Securities Depositories Regulation (CSDR), the European Banking Authorities' guidelines on internal governance, and CPMI-IOSCO's principles for financial market infrastructures. I also assessed Euroclear's compliance with some of CSDR's risk management requirements, as a preparation for Euroclear's application for a CSD licence under CSDR.Additionally, I was a member of Euroclear's Brexit Steering Committee, after having conducted our Brexit risk assessment at the end of 2015 and before a formal programme governance was put in place.Next to that, I have been the budget planner for the Risk Management division since January 2016.

Following a 3-month internship in Euroclear's Risk Management division in 2015 in their Brussels office, I joined Euroclear as a permanent employee in 2016, in their London office, after having finalised my master's degree.I first continued researching risk management standards and best practices, whilst also analysing the European Central Securities Depositories Regulation's (CSDR) requirements for risk management, and how those would impact Euroclear. That research and analysis was followed by first drafts for new risk management policies and procedures, designed to improve Euroclear's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.At the end of 2015, I conducted Euroclear's Brexit risk assessment, which was presented to Euroclear's risk committees, executive committees, and boards of directors. Following the results of the EU Referendum of June 2016, I joined Euroclear's Brexit Steering Committee.Since January 2016, I also took over the role of budget planner for the Risk Management division.

I first joined Euroclear's Risk Management division in August 2015 as an intern, as part of my master's degree in law and economics. Following this internship, I wrote a thesis, titled "The evolution of risk management and the enterprise risk management framework - the example of Euroclear in a changing environment", for which I was awarded full score.For three months, I worked in the "Framework, Policies and Analysis" team, where I started doing research in order to update Euroclear's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, whilst learning about Euroclear's model and business.I developed user guides and guidelines, for business and risk managers, on Euroclear's risk logging and issue-tracking database application. I also wrote a selection of documents describing a number of Euroclear's risk processes and tools, such as Euroclear's risk sources and the annual Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) to help new risk management employees with some of the division's key concepts.
