About Fran Deisinger

I am the retired General Counsel of Reinhart, Boerner, Van Deuren, s.c., a law firm of approximately 200 attorneys based in Milwaukee with additional offices in Madison and Waukesha, Wisconsin, Chicago and Rockford, Illinois, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Denver, Colorado and Scottsdale, Arizona. I am also the former chair of the firm's Ethics Committee, which provides ethics advice to the firm and its attorneys. I began my practice at Reinhart in 1982.In my external practice I represented attorneys and law firms in professional liability, malpractice, ethics, grievance and licensure matters. I also represented fiduciaries, beneficiaries, donors and family members in estate, trust and gifting disputes, including in litigation. While I litigated a full range of civil cases, and tried cases to successful conclusion before juries, judges and arbitrators in numerous federal and state jurisdictions, I prided myself on finding and achieving effective and practical solutions for my clients. I represented my clients in many successful early and late stage mediations, and I have served as a mediator in civil disputes.I was elected by Wisconsin's attorneys as the 61st President of the State Bar of Wisconsin, the integrated bar comprised of all Wisconsin lawyers, serving from 2016 to 2017. I was previously elected the President of the Milwaukee Bar Association, the largest voluntary bar association in the state of Wisconsin, serving from 2009-2010, and subsequently I served as President of the Milwaukee Bar Foundation from 2010 to 2016. The Foundation is the principal provider of privately sourced funding for the Milwaukee Justice Center at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, which provides legal assistance to unrepresented persons. As of 2024 I am currently a member of the board of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, the charitable arm of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and I am also a member of the board of the Senior Lawyers Division of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
