I'm a freelance writer with three published books (Dying Unafraid, Never In Doubt and Perilous Times: An inside look at abortion before - and after - Roe v Wade) still in print or available and a longtime career in newspaper and magazine writing. Since publication of Perilous Times (and during the three years I worked on it) I've been deeply involved with working to protect & preserve reproductive rights and women's health in the U.S. I believe reproductive justice, which is increasingly being denied poor and unempowered women across the country, is critically important. For many years I have had a strong focus on end-of-life issues (articles in online and print publication.) Occasionally I return to short fiction; several early stories were published in national magazines, including prize-winners in "Literal Latte" and the Cape Fear Mystery Festival chapbook. One longtime goal was to publish my short story collection, a group of stories related to life in a small Virginia town in the 1940s written mostly while completing an MFA in Short Fiction. Finally took a deep breath & did it myself: Marshallville Stories is now available in print and audiobook. Specialties: Nonprofit activity and advocacy in areas of reproductive justice, interfaith and end-of-life issues. Frequent writer/blogger (WordPress & Medium) on these issues and miscellaneous others.
