1968-89 Employed at International Paper’s Mobile Mill, joined UPIU Local 265. Achievedvarious local union offices, from Steward to President. President of the ’JointBargaining Council’ of that location (four UPIU and one IBEW Locals).1980-82 Served as community volunteer/mediator for the Better Business Bureau’s groundbreaking mediation program.1984-89 Served as Secretary-Treasurer of the Paperworkers Council of Alabama.1989-90 UPIU President, Wayne Glenn announced the creation of the Outreach Department.I was appointed as Liaison and was one of three in this important start-up effort.1991 Was loaned to the AFL-CIO’s Industrial Union Department in its efforts to organizesouthern US industry.1992-99 Returned to Nashville and serve as the Outreach Department’s Coordinator.This innovative group of dedicated unionists was renamed to ‘Special ProjectsDepartment’, currently it is known as Strategic Campaigns Department withinthe USW. The department, then and now, conducts the Union’s corporatecampaigns against rogue employers, training local members in the tools ofcontract enforcement, negotiation of first contracts and shareholder actions.1999-00 PACE President Boyd Young placed me into a working relationship with SEIULocal 205, a statewide Tennessee entity. In this as Field Director, I negotiatedcontracts for various health care facilities and the public sector.2001 Appointed International Representative assigned to Georgia and later to Florida.2003 I took on the additional role of Rapid Response Coordinator for PACE Region V.2004-09 As PACE merged with USWA, becomming USW. I continued to work as Staff Representative.Servicing diverse Locals from I-10 to Miami. These include such industries as:Paper/Pulp mills, Chip and Saw mills, Box and Container plants, Pipe manufacturing,Pharmaceuticals, Cement manufacturing, Cement Terminals, Roofing, BuildingProducts, Beverage sales and distribution and a Call Center.Specialties: Labor negotiations, dealings with the National Labor Relations Act and Board, Mediation and Arbitrations, Defining Employee Benefit Programs
