Capital Project Manager (new plant design/construction/start-up): Managed design, build, startup and turn-over of a new, state-of-the-art, 485,000 sq-ft solar manufacturing facility ($210MM). Engineering Manager (during and after plant startup): Led organizational and sustaining and improvement strategies with 53 direct-reports dedicated toward continuous manufacturing improvements, expansions and preventative maintenance in a 24/7 operation.I received Evergreen’s Outstanding Leadership Award for successful completion of the plant-build on time and within budget. It required leading an international team of engineers that developed first-of-their-kind highly-automated manufacturing equipment and processes, as well as infrastructure, from conception to full manufacturing, including PLC based automation from companies like Kuka, Schuler, Schneider, Schmid and NPC-Japan, among others.As engineering manager, I led operation improvements that resulted in increased yields to well over 98%, reducing COGS (cost of goods sold) by 50% and exceeding plant designed-output by nearly 25 Mega-Watts per yearAs project leader, I performed IFC (Issued for Construction) drawing reviews, changing design specs to better match industry norms which saved $5 million and kept the project schedule on track for our investors – improved project completion schedule by 9 months.I led supply-chain negotiations that saved $600K annually in our maintenance budget.Development of our equipment maintenance strategy, operating procedures and tracking methodologies.
