With over 28 years of work experience, I am a passionate and dedicated Business Representative at the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115, where I work with a team that represents over 13,500 members in the province of BC and the Yukon Territory, working in construction and various industrial sectors. My core competencies include contract negotiation, union organizing campaigns, and union grievances. I am committed to advancing the rights and interests of our members, ensuring fair and safe working conditions, and promoting solidarity and cooperation among our diverse and skilled workforce. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and perspective to the union, and I enjoy collaborating with our staff, leaders, and partners to achieve our common goals and vision.In my current role as a Business Representative, I am responsible for servicing and supporting our members in various areas, such as collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance handling, arbitration, mediation, and education. I also assist in organizing new members and units, and in mobilizing our members for various campaigns and actions. I use my skills in communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and advocacy to effectively represent our members and to build and maintain positive relationships with employers, stakeholders, and allies. Prior to joining the union, I worked as a Mobile Crane and Heavy Equipment Operator, operating a variety of mobile and crawler cranes in various industries and sectors. This experience gave me a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our members, and a strong sense of pride and professionalism in our trade.
