Membrane Manufacturing Process Engineering Support plus Validation Work

Various Consultation positions in Process Engineering using Six Sigma Skilss plus basic Process Engineering Experience, etcetera

-Managed R&D Upstream Product Validation Group (2 years)-Previously Process Engineer III (4 years) and optimized the processing of numerous specialty membranes, including improvements in processing, methods, materials, quality and yields. (Six Sigma trained)-Partnered with R&D on many developments of new membranes such as Adsorber, IPFL etcetera.-Set up a proactive Safety Committee in production in Bedford.

Worked in R & D Scale-Up and Validation in St. Albans, VT making transdermals from bench scale into cGMP production scale-up / Validation and Demonstration campaigns, plus IQ/OQ/PQ’s, FAT”s and applied DOE’s during Development phases.

Responsible for different several positions including multiple projects and process improvements.-Led Process Engineering team of 7 engineers & technicians in manufacturing plus responsible for “hands-on” work including: ·Started up the first new Merrimack wide Coating Tower & produced needed production rolls within one month of power up; established initial processes for this new architectural roofing membrane product line. ·Participated in a team that started up four additional intermediate width coating machines during the half year Mecca tent city program, which built an equivalent (500K square feet) of a stadium every two weeks. ·Completed a $150K on-line Vision defect detection project, which located, identified and sized anomalies while coating substrates on-line with biaxial modulus output of composites.

Managed the coating and mixing side of the new video plant. -Started up two multimillion-dollar milling & coating lines and brought them into full production.-Managed and trained 145 salaried staff in self-directed work teams focused on teamwork and execution of accurate production procedures, plus 5S programs and improvement Kaziens.-Improved overall machine efficiency, productivity, and yields.

Managed a variety of operations including audio, video and computer tape plus cassette loading, assembly and packaging during exponential growth phases.·Started up a multimillion-dollar Videotape coating line and upgraded two major coating lines.·Established state of the art video slitting operations.·Instituted the automatic videotape cassette assembly operations.·Area grew from one manual shift to a fully automated 24 hour / 7 day operation·Producing 1.5 million cassettes a month with about 200 people in eight departments.·Introduced the 8-inch hard computer disk into production with new dispersion prep. & coating techniques.

Spent 2 years making the SX-70 Coatings for Perkin Chem. Division. (Included running W-8 for a full week through the Big Bad Blizzard of '78). Plus spent another 2 years in W-1 making both the Color positive plus proprietary Black & White positive sheet as Technical Supervisor.

Worked in New Product Development in the former Newburgh, NY DuPont plant. Developed Snap-in Headliner (mastered) plus Pipe Wrap material for Owens Corning.

Worked in R&D in Pressure Sensitive Adhesives.-Developed a very low release liner for Acrylic PSA.-Re-engineered the File Folder labels, Correction Tape, Reinforcement Rings and Signal Dots during the fuel crisis of 1974 with limited available raw materials.
