Frank Cave has recently retired from teaching in the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (IEED) at Lancaster University Management School. He has been given an Honorary faculty position for research purposes and to mentor student and alumni start-ups. He is also devoting more time to a spin-out company and enterprise education in a variety of situations.Since 1998 he taught on postgraduate and executive courses for small businesses and on the world ranked MBA Programme. He was lately Programme Director of the MSc in E-business and Innovation.With a background of 20 years as an engineer in medical instrumentation he has an interest in entrepreneurship learning for scientists and engineers. He has developed 4 modules of EL for the Faculty of Science. He is a member of three international academic communities in EL- EFER, REE and Babson SEE. He delivered an EL workshop in Palestine in 2010.His research interests lie in the growth of technology based businesses particularly barriers to growth and the role of communities of practice in business formation. Frank has extensive direct experience of support to regional small businesses. He founded two businesses associated with technology transfer and the management of risk in technology ventures. He is currently co-founder of an award winning spin-out company with a colleague from the Department of Engineering.
