I am a Certified Instrument and Controls technician Level II for Talen Energy. My crew is responsible for HVAC systems, emergency diesel generators, meteorological system, radwaste instruments and reactor vessel level and pressure instruments. I'm best known for maintenance on air operated control valves and valve diagnostics typically performed during refueling outages. Working in nuclear power is unique and special. It is everyone's responsibility to work safely, and lookout for yourself and your co-workers. Working safely ensures everyone goes home safe. Along with being a crew leader I believe everyone should be a safety leader. At Talen Energy I use our safety and human performance tool bag to help keep everyone safe. Whether it is performing a two minute situational awareness drill, obtaining a radiological brief from radiation protection, or talking with safety operations, it's a daily commitment to keeping each other safe. My career goal as a technician is be regarded as one of our crew subject matter experts on our crew systems. I hope as I build my knowledge and skills, I can earn my subject matter expert qualification and someday teach initial and continuing training to new and current instrument technicians.
