Sr. Project Engineer for the TSM&O Consultant project. Support FDOT in their mission to ensure a safe, uniform and efficient highway system in Florida. I accomplish this with technical evaluation of transportation devices, standards, specifications, and research. I also evaluate, test, and report on equipment and products in support of FDOT’s addition of new/updated technologies on their Approved Product List. I also provide updates to FDOT ITS and traffic control technology specifications, and provide guidance to existing and potential product vendors on how to navigate FDOT’s product evaluation and testing requirements.

As the project manager for Florida DOT’s ITS Communications on-call services program management contract, my team and I are providing a wide range of program management, engineering, technical, management and administrative services for the FDOT statewide ITS communication systems, ITS communication infrastructures and facilities, and traffic engineering communications. -- Manage a staff of 9 engineers and specialists, and 7 sub consultant firms providing program management services, all housed in the FDOT offices. Managed projects for FDOT worth $6 Million annually. -- Earn $4 Million in revenue annually.-- Operate a statewide ITS Wide Area Network for center-to-center communication connecting Florida’s regional transportation management centers (TMC), tolls data center, and partner agency TMCs. -- Planned and developed a multi-year program to upgrade and replace all microwave radios and fiber optic transmission systems and networks, to achieve a fully integrated statewide ITS data transport infrastructure.-- Manage the design and implementation of the upgrade and replacement of all microwave radios along 120 miles US Route 1 in the Florida Keys, increasing bandwidth by a factor of 10, covering 55 sites with new generation licensed microwave radio technology. -- Train users, operated and maintained a statewide ITS Facility Management (ITSFM) System designed to help the Districts, the Turnpike and the Central Office manage the overall ITS network, the system configuration, and its components (assets). Planned, designed and implemented an enhanced ITSFM training program, migrating some training elements to computer-based training.-- Manage the support of Florida’s Turnpike and their program to upgrade, repair and replace 19 radio towers located along the mainline and HEFT. Services include design, CEI and program support services.

Managed a wide variety of projects, including:-- Planning, design, integration and operations of the computerized traffic signal system, including field communications, signal control, and lighting strategies. Managed a $3 million capital improvement program and a $1.5 million operating budget as well as an engineering staff. This work also incorporated extensive project management responsibility in traffic signal system, ATMS and lighting projects.-- Managed computerized signal system projects incorporating 225 signals into a single networked system.
