Key activities and achievements:• Successful development and constant evolution of a Kidney Diseases / Precision Nephrology strategy• Team leader of a group of 20-35 scientists and technicians, people development, talent acquisition (recruitment of more than 20 nephrology scientists over the past 12 years)• Kidney diseases research portfolio responsibility (ranging from early target discovery through lead generation into lead optimization and IND-enabling studies)• Buildup of preclinical pharmacology models for a broad range of kidney diseases @ Bayer (in vitro, ex vivo, in vivo)• Successfully kicked off and steered a multi-project kidney diseases research collaboration between Bayer and Evotec between 2016 and 2021 (current outcome: one early clinical development stage program)• Successfully designed, implemented, and steering a second multi-project kidney diseases research collaboration between Bayer and Vanderbilt University since 2017• Research support of kidney diseases related projects in early and late stage clinical development (Finerenone, Molidustat, Vericiguat).
