She called it "Baptism by Fire." On a whim I had decided to join my church's drama ministry. I managed to meet the director the day before a play. She handed me a set of instructions and, the next thing I knew, I was staring down a couple hundred judgemental silhouettes shrouded by stage lights. I did it--I fell in love with two things that day: making train wrecks work and being in front of people.By the age of 19 I owned my own business. Meanwhile, in college I was founding and developing various clubs--culminating into establishing the first reliable student representation to the Board of Trustees in many years. I spoke to colleges throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland promoting and educating students in Phi Theta Kappa's programs. Six years and two industries later I still own a business, and I've become adept putting together teams for a wide variety of projects.While I've had to use many different skills in my career, I find that the following are most commonly sought after.- I can break big, scary, complicated problems into small and easily understood chunks.- I am a multi-linguist of businesses and non-profits: I speak passionate owner, marketer, visionary, investor, trainer, employee and difficult client.- More importantly, I can translate between those perspectives. - I express concepts well, particularly in writing.- I care about results, not my own ego.- I can clearly see the potential and opportunities of anything put in front of me.- A lot of people see potential and can dream. Turning dreams into reality is what matters.
