I maintain and support a rolling 13 week programme of employability including CV production, job search skills, work experience and intensive IAG support to remove barriers to employment. By using aptitude testing to explore alternative career paths with clients, and by removing barriers such as transport, skills or qualification gaps our department has achieved a good success rate measured in job outcomes. I have used networking to broaden the opportunities available to our clients and have worked with colleagues to achieve good results. After I joined the team we achieved double the previous job outcome results, and when Jobcentre referrals slowed recently, I worked with two colleagues to produce a flyer which we then distributed, doubling referrals at the next induction. When I joined TDB I was working towards an NVQ level 4 in Information Advice and Guidance which I have recently completed.

Careers Adviser - Supporting Adults in Bedlington and Ashington with Information Advice and Guidance on Careers,Training, Education and other opportunities to further their careers.Responsibilities – Maintain and support a case-load of clients from within my geographical patch, deliver one to one and group work in employability and careers based learning, develop and broaden my network of contacts within other local organisations, delivering partnership based work where possible, with particular reference to clients aged 50 and over.Successes include many clients registering for college to take vocational training, and a number of clients finding work. During my time in this position I opened up 13 new venues for advice work within the community.

Support and Encourage Learners to find and maintain a work experience placement; Deliver training in Literacy, Numeracy and KeySkills in a classroom setting; attend external training etc. with Learners; maintain documentation; work with other agencies to identify and remove Client's barriers to work; network and liaise with other professionals to support clients,deliver employability skills in Classroom setting, help learners to build CVs, and to complete job applications, to write for jobs, and to search effectively for jobs in the media and on-line.The client group was mixed in abilities and attitudes and my teaching work required constant differentiation to remain effective with the range of abilities, while my classroom management skills dealt with highly motivated students along with extremely challenging individuals, using my interpersonal skills and my sense of humour to maintain an effective learning environment. I had a number of learners who, after successful work experience of learners who went on placements, were offered full time jobs, and also had a number placed in further education on vocational training.

Maintain and Support a case load of long term unemployed clients within the Northern Coalfield area; Identify and address any barriers to employment faced by clients; Liaise with Employers and training providers to provide work experience/training opportunities for clients; Network with other professionals to help clients to maximise their use of any opportunities; Interview and engage clients, using empathy and communication skills to create a good relationship, Work with clients on creating CV, increasing client confidence, improving clients 'employability'.Placed client with a training agency and unlocked funding for £1600 of PCV training and test – Result client in full time work as a coach driver. Suggested client could attend Learn Direct to improve low school qualifications – Result Client obtained Level 2Literacy and Numeracy, with result of improved confidence and started work in Full time job in construction. In addition I had a number of clients who went on to full-time employment, and further education, and several clients successfully began self employment while on my case load.

EBSD key stage 3I taught technology and ICT, in addition to covering other lessons and running an after-school cycle maintenance class.

Here I covered all aspects of the curriculum , delivering pre-prepared lesson plans to all levels of learners.

Cycle Trader, Internet guide, acting as an ICT tutor to clients assisting them in acquiring internet skills, search skills etc.

Employment Training course in Recreation and Leisure based at King Edwards School, Morpeth, teaching PSE and outdoor pursuits and at Morpeth Ski Centre and Blyth Sailing Base, passed Mountain Leader training, taught Duke of Edinburgh group.

Self-employed Cycle Dealer, employing Sales Assistants and Mechanic, sold, serviced, imported, built mountain bikes. I sold frames and bikes all over the Uk and as far afield as Texas. I imported the first mountain bike suspension forks seen in Europe, and had design input into several notable brands including Sturmey Archer, Venhill Engineering, Pace Research and Mantis Cycles. I organised mountain bike races and events attracting contestants from all over the uk.

Mechanical Fitter, passed apprenticeship, overhauled underground locomotive chassis then joined maintenance team.
