Managing the IT and IT security needs of the McMaster Nuclear Reactor at McMaster University in Hamilton Ontario.

Co-designed and built the McMaster Nuclear Reactor's hydraulic test loop laboratory. This included the design and building of much of the machine as well as its support infrastructure. Designed and built the loop’s data acquisition system and wrote the associated control and automation code.

Designed and built McMaster University's Single Ion Micro-Probe system and associated facility at the University's particle accelerator lab in Hamilton Ontario

Designed and build supercomputers for use in particle physics simulations and protein crystallography. Also managed the IT and IT security needs of the Cornell High Energy Synchrotron Source (CHESS). I also designed and built fully redundant, load-balanced server clusters with failover capabilities.

Maintained, calibrated and serviced lab equipment for five different departments at Cornell University. While in this position, I worked on just about every type of lab equipment imaginable including desktop and floor-standing centrifuges, PCR machines, HPLC machines, incubators, cold boxes, ultra-low freezers, DNA thermal cyclers, vacuum systems, sputter coaters, electronic test and measurement equipment, computers, networking equipment, microscopes, autoclaves, sterile hoods, pipette aids, micropipettors, shakers, water baths, electrophoresis power supplies, gel boxes and dryers, hot plates and stirrers, light boxes, stills and deionization systems (Millipore), hybridization and drying ovens, balances (top loading and analytical), spectrometers and laser systems. I also designed and manufactured custom electronic and mechanical systems in support of various research programs.

Serviced and supported electrical and mechanical systems in thermonuclear fusion research. These include computers, networks, high voltage power supplies and capacitor banks, pulse compression lines, data acquisition systems, trigger and control systems, cooling systems, high vacuum systems, diagnostics equipment as well as optical diagnostics including lasers, fiber optics and spectrometers.
