In my 'yoot' I was a newspaper reporter, editor and publisher and then, lured by the big money, I became the executive editor of a medical journal based at Mass General Hospital in Boston. For ten years after that I worked mainly as an editorial and marketing communications consultant, creating from the ground up, or sharpening the focus and flair of creative pieces, advertising copy, or other professional communications. In 1998 I began contributing a topical column, then covered government meetings for Gatehouse Media's community newspapers, including the nearly 200-year-old paper serving the historic community of Plymouth, Massachusetts, where I received numerous regional and national awards for news coverage. It was also while reporting, specifically for the Old Colony Memorial, that I first became exposed to a variety of conservation groups and was made aware of the globally-rare ecoregion I lived and worked within. What began as an interest, then fascination with the ecology of the area, quickly became an avocation. In 2012 I was named Vice President of the non-profit SEMass Pine Barrens Alliance, where for the last decade I have been instrumental in educating the public on the value of this ecoregion, while successfully co-writing a number of grants that have helped protect and restore the habitat and species of the region.Specialties: I have received awards for poetry, written for the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, edited an online 'coffee of the month' web page, provided copy for a Direct Mail blog and much more. When my position at the Journal of Nuclear Medicine suddenly ended I worked for a food service organization (Cape Cod Specialty Foods) where I helped design packaging for new products.I have a BA in English Literature from Boston College, an MBA from Northeastern University, a Certificate in Professional Publishing from Stanford, and a Certificate in Web Management from Emerson College.

The editorial offices of many medical journals are mobile - located with the Editor-in-Chief, most of whom serve terms of five or ten years. When HW Strauss, MD, PhD, was selected as Editor of the Journal of Nuclear Medicine, the journal had to move from the MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas, to Dr. Strauss' location - at Mass General Hospital in.
Leaving Boston College with a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature, my goal was to find work that allowed me to continue my development as a writer, full time. The natural solution was newspaper work, and beginning with the established daily, The Patriot Ledger (Quincy, MA), I learned the business from the ground up. By 1988, when I took a position with.
I have also worked as a copywriter - creating fashion advertisements (print, radio, circular), for a now defunct department store (Grover Cronin, Inc.), and in the sign shop of another, famous department store (Jordan Marsh).
