About Frank Mcghee
As a Community Engagement Manager at Matrix Human Services, I leverage my MA in Community Based Education and over 30 years of experience serving the city of Detroit to develop innovative programming that meets the needs of the community. I work with a diverse team of professionals and partners to design and deliver workshops, events, and initiatives that foster community engagement, empowerment, and resilience.I am inspired by the innovative spirit of James Kanada, a former enslaved person who escaped to Detroit and established his farm, despite facing racism and sabotage. He represents an example of African American achievement and perseverance that motivates me to create culturally responsive spaces in the community. My mission is to honor the legacy of Kanada and my ancestors by supporting community residents in their own journey of self-determination and social change.
