After twenty seven years as a PGA Professional, Frank Montgomery decided to continue his interest in land development and residential construction, by starting The Montgomery Company. Because of the real estate boom in the late 1990s, it took no time at all to be moving full speed ahead. Speculative home construction in the Highlands area kept us very busy. In 2003 we formed a partnership with Blue Mountain Associates and purchased a beautiful track of land with fantastic mountain views, in Franklin, North Carolina. Deer Ridge has now become one of the most desirable residential developments in the area and has stood the test of time, proudly surviving the recent real estate crash. We sold three speculative homes in 2010, when many other developments were going back to the banks. Our most recent home sell, “The Antlers,” was made prior to its completion. Another is coming out of the ground at this time and should be available in the Spring.Our operation has expanded to several Southeastern states. Last year we completed a couple of residential projects in Atlanta and North Mississippi. We are presently underway with a large custom residential home near the Gulf Coast, in South Mississippi.Although we continue to see an occasional request for large custom homes, the recent trend appears to leaning more toward smaller, but very upscale quality homes. At least this is the case in our market, which is primarily a “Second Home or Vacation Home” market.
