As a First Class mechanic at the District Fleet Maintenance Shop for a Nation wide LTL trucking company, I am responsible for the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of tractors based at the Burlington location and all trucks that are routed through the terminal, in timely fashion.

Managed fleet of cement mixer trucks and tri-axle dump trucks, including the major overhaul of all components including frame replacement.

Responsible to the maintenance of a cement packaging plant, including all machinery and conveyors. Managed the preventative program for equipment including forklifts and loaders.

Direct the daily operation of fleet of 172 inner-city buses in a strong union environment. Responsible for the state and federal dot inspection of fleet and the implementation of the periodic maintenance schedule. Manage the fueling and cleaning of all vehicles prior to their daily dispatch. Procure and distribute parts and supplies for buses to the mechanics in the operation of performing major and minor repairs. Supervise mechanics in these repairs and instructed them in the proper use of all hazardous materials. Supervise body repair mechanics in the structural repairs required after vehicles were involved in accidents.

Managed the maintenance and emergency road service support for a customer base of medium and heavy-duty trucks. Provided these customers with assistance in determining their needs in replacement and supplementing their fleet. Located and provided centralized billing for fuel purchases when vehicles were outside of their normal area of operation. Assisted operators in locating and rental of vehicles when their vehicle was disabled due to mechanical problems or accident.

DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONSEstablish a new location, including the set up of the shop and hiring of staff of mechanics. I also acted as a salesperson with established and with new customers in the sales of new and used trucks and in the sales of lease contracts with these customers. I also sold maintenance contracts for any vehicles that our customers owned and wanted maintained by our shop. The location then started a driver-leasing program for our customer base. In this capacity I interviewed, screened and road-tested the driver candidates. After hiring these drivers, I was responsible for their dispatching.
