Mr. Ramirez is a values-driven serial entrepreneur with over 40 years of experience in building high performance teams, developing funding strategies, promoting legislative sponsorship, and driving sales growth. He currently serves as the CEO of Water Harvesting Inc., a Silicon Valley startup venture that has developed a revolutionary platform technology for solid desiccant regeneration, which will drive 50% improvement in energy efficiency and carbon reduction for air conditioning, dehumidification, and atmospheric water generation while reducing the capital cost of equipment by 40%. In 2003 Mr. Ramirez co-founded and served as CEO of Ice Energy, a Colorado based start-up that pioneered the development of the thermal energy storage market. The Ice Bear is a high efficiency energy storage technology that has been installed behind-the-meter on many hundreds of commercial buildings to reduce summer peak demand. The Company developed and implemented a novel business model selling the offset energy and capacity value streams of energy storage to electric utilities under long term agreements. Frank and his team entered into agreements with 25 different utilities throughout North America including the first of its kind, 53-megawatt, utility owned, distributed energy storage capacity and energy contract. In the early years, the Company led the development of technical, legislative, and regulatory framework for energy storage in California. As part of that work, Mr. Ramirez helped draft and pass landmark energy storage legislation in California, AB 2514, designed to increase the use of large-scale energy storage systems to address the intermittent and variable nature of renewable energy resources. Prior to that, Mr. Ramirez co-founded and managed a Calpine Energy funded energy start-up that developed innovative inside-the-fence energy solutions for 24/7 mission critical computing facilities, and earlier founded and directed Structured Capital Management, a northern California boutique investment bank specializing in the monetization of stranded balance sheet assets and complex financial asset securitizations. Mr. Ramirez is a former principal of Alex Brown & Sons, and a former managing director of Bear, Stearns and Co., both former NYSE companies.
