Research Engineer (June 1986 - November 2007)Called upon by NASA to advocate, plan, and lead technical projects of considerable scope and complexity. Many presentations at national/international conferences and critically reviewed project meetings. Three invited national conference presentations and have served as a Session Chairman. Many project meeting presentations were subject to thorough review and have also served on several project teams in support of Ares I-X Rocket Program, Prometheus, Return-to-Flight (RTF) and Vision for Space Exploration programs. Have developed and led working groups with several government and industry partners including NASA LaRC, the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC), the Naval Reactor Prime Contractor Team (NRPCT), Oak Ridge National Laboratories (ORNL), Pratt-Whitney/Rocketdyne, and the Edison Welding Institute (EWI). These working groups functioned to provide direction to space power, space exploration, and Space Shuttle Orbiter (SSO) programs. Earned a NASA Exceptional Achievement Medal for work on the development of an on-orbit repair for SSO reinforced carbon-carbon repair (RCCR) leading edges. Also earned a NASA Turning Goals into Reality award, 4 NASA Space Act awards, 7 NASA performance awards, and 4 Special Act awards while working on superalloy, refractory metal, and composite programs. Invited NASA Explorer School (NES) speaker, a 20-time mentor for engineering students, and a recognized NASA advocate through numerous presentations and media appearances supporting NASA’s RTF. Twice recognized as a Mentor-of-the-Year at NASA GRC. Served as the NASA GRC diversity liaison to Cleveland, OH in 2010 and served on the NASA GRC Diversity Board from 2010 to the end of 2015.
